It does not look cheap which was something I was concerned about before the purchase. The lens is all glass and the pole finish looks durable. It stands straight. Since it was being controlled by a wall switch I changed the base/socket/lampholder to a leviton 3-way with a knob which is a bit old fashion but is very simple to use. It then requires a 3-Way bulb which are still made in LED. I used a Phillips 50/100/150W unit. I could have installed a dimming lampholder but the 3 way is fine.I did this because it is being controlled by a wall switch. If a switch controls a wall outlet you may not install a dimmer in the place of a standard wall switch. Thus any dimming must be handled at the light itself via a 3-way or a dimming lampholder.It sheds a nice upwards light that provides a broad diffuse light for the room. It even got compliments on its looks. It may not be a real Tiffany to be handed down through the generations but I am happy with the value of this purchase.Wish it was made somewhere other than China.Jay
