I've tried a few of these lamps, and had come to the conclusion that it was all a placebo. They didn't help, they just made my head hurt. Well, this one ALSO made my head hurt (ha ha), but I think that's a common side-effect of starting light therapy, and it went away over time. I have not been nearly as depressed this year after starting it, and that's with being forced off an anti-depressant cold-turkey because the VA can't get a veteran's meds to them on time (are we surprised? No. No we're not). The ability to clamp it to a table is great, because I don't have room near my desk for a standing lamp, so I clamped it on the hole in my desk for cords, and it doesn't block the gap for other cords at all. I love the gooseneck feature, the neck is solid enough that it stays in position. The different color options for the light are great, too. My only gripe is that the controls on the base faced the other side once it's screwed all the way down on the clamp, as that makes them, you know, invisible. But there's a remote. So problem solved.
